Riyadh: The Ministerial Committee formed by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit on Gaza strongly condemned the Israeli occupation forces' raids on the Gaza Strip, denouncing their direct bombardment of civilian-populated areas that resulted in hundreds of Palestinian casualties.
The committee emphasized that these attacks violate the ceasefire agreement, UN resolutions, and international humanitarian law, worsening the already dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza and posing a grave threat to regional stability. The escalation risks wider conflict, undermining efforts toward de-escalation and peace.
The committee called on the international community to fulfill its moral and legal responsibilities, urging immediate intervention to pressure Israel (the occupying power) to: Cease its aggression and violations, Restore electricity supply to Gaza and Open all border crossings for the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid
The committee reaffirmed the urgent need for a lasting ceasefire, the resumption of peace talks, and full implementation of the ceasefire agreement to end the war on Gaza and prevent further cycles of violence.
Additionally, the committee reiterated its commitment to a just and sustainable peace based on the two-state solution and the Arab Peace Initiative, in line with UN resolutions. It reaffirmed the Palestinian people's right to an independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Formed on November 11, 2023, the Ministerial Committee includes foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, Bahrain, Türkiye, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Palestine, alongside the Secretary Generals of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
